Energy storage can serve various purposes depending on the customer’s needs and application. The Enico | Jupiter energy storage solution is designed with a modular structure, making it easily scalable to suit a wide range of requirements.

What is an energy storage?

At its simplest, an energy storage system is equipment capable of storing and releasing large amounts of electrical energy. It can also respond to control signals within milliseconds. This makes it suitable for any application that benefits from such performance.

Which battery technology does Enico offer?

Enico’s energy storage systems use LFP (LiFePO₄) battery technology. We continuously monitor emerging technologies to ensure our solutions remain future-ready for the benefit of our customers.

Is Enico | Jupiter meant for indoor or outdoor use?

Enico manufactures energy storage systems exclusively for outdoor use. The enclosure is insulated and equipped with an efficient thermal management system, designed specifically to withstand demanding Nordic conditions.

What is the lifespan of an energy storage system?

Energy storage systems are often rated for about ten years of service.

While this is a useful general guideline, it can be somewhat misleading because the actual lifespan depends on the application and the number of daily charge-discharge cycles. For example, in Finland’s reserve market, the average battery usage is around 0.75 cycles per day, which means the calculated lifespan of an LFP battery can be as long as 30 years.

The energy storage system itself is a device with easily replaceable batteries once their lifespan is reached. We ensure that used batteries are properly recycled.

What sizes of energy storage systems does Enico offer?

The smallest power rating for connection to a low-voltage network is 175 kW, or 300 kW when connected to a medium-voltage network or a 690 V low-voltage network. System sizes increase in multiples of these ratings.

The battery packs can be assembled modularly to achieve the desired energy capacity. The smallest battery unit is 375 kWh, and capacity can be scaled up in multiples of this. Larger systems are created by connecting multiple modular units in parallel.

Thanks to our modular design, we can easily deliver systems reaching hundreds of megawatts in power and megawatt-hours in energy capacity.

Can the Enico | Jupiter energy storage system participate in energy and reserve markets?

Yes, it can. In addition to the energy storage system, a sufficiently large electrical connection with available capacity is required, along with an operation service such as Enico EMS to enable trading. The available capacity of the connection can be determined from hourly consumption data

In Finland, Enico is an approved participant in Fingrid’s reserve market operations.

Is a building permit required for an energy storage system?

Starting from early 2025, all structures, including energy storage systems—or more precisely, their foundations—must have a valid building permit exemption on the site. Any building over 30 m² requires a building permit.

Structures under 30 m² do not require a formal building permit, but they must be constructed according to the same regulations so that, if requested later, the same documentation as in a building permit process can be provided.

Energy storage systems weigh several tons even at their smallest sizes, so a foundation is usually required. The exception is the portable Jupiter Mobile, which can be used temporarily, for example, at construction sites or events.

Is a permit for the electricity network operator required?

Yes. It is important to contact your local electricity network operator as early as possible. Even if the electrical connection has sufficient capacity for a large device, the network operator may impose restrictions or cause delays in the connection process.

Does Enico offer the energy storage system as a turnkey delivery?

Enico’s delivery includes the energy storage unit, freight, lifting, mechanical and internal installations. Testing, commissioning, and customer training are also part of the package.

Installations and any necessary modifications in the customer’s electrical rooms or switchgear, as well as cabling from there to the energy storage system, can be included in Enico’s delivery if needed.

Civil engineering and infrastructure work are generally not included in Enico’s delivery.

How often does an energy storage system require maintenance?

According to the maintenance agreement, an annual service visit is sufficient. The scope of this visit may vary from year to year. We recommend a maintenance contract lasting ten years for the system.

Can the energy storage system be maintained by the customer?

Maintenance tasks on the energy storage system can be carried out by an electrician certified by Enico.

Is it possible to lease or finance a device through Enico?

Enico sells devices primarily through direct sales, but we can assist customers in finding leasing or financing partners. Our financing partners include companies such as Siemens Financial Services and Aktia.
