Enico and Rittal signed an agreement on March 26, 2025, for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Under this agreement, Rittal will supply Enico with a significant number of liquid cooling units over the coming years, supporting Enico’s robust growth. Although Enico started operations only a few years ago, it has rapidly grown and established itself as a pioneer in developing and delivering modular and scalable energy storage solutions. The collaboration between Rittal and Enico plays a crucial role in enabling this growth. Rittal has been supplying cooling units to Enico for several years, but this new agreement elevates their cooperation to an entirely new level.

It is important for Enico to make renewable energy an easily accessible resource for businesses through electrical energy storage by offering cost-effective and high-quality energy storage solutions for example for industrial properties and energy producers. Rittal has significant experience in industrial sectors and is a reliable operator with efficient cooling equipment and skilled maintenance personnel. Rittal has heavily invested in energy storage solutions in recent years and now offers highly productized solutions to its customers, aligning perfectly with Enico’s focus on modular and scalable energy storage systems. For Enico, it was essential to find a partner that is an European entity and provides European technology.

“At Enico, collaborator reliability and technological expertise are crucial to support our scalability. Additionally, we must ensure optimal usability for our customers as we grow. We also believe it is socially significant to offer European technology. Our solutions are increasingly linked to critical infrastructure, making the role of nearby associates vital for ensuring maintenance reliability,” says Enico’s CEO Marko Lähteenmäki.

“At Rittal, we serve a wide range of industries while continuously seeking new opportunities in emerging business fields. Of course, we are seeking growth-oriented and resilient business models.  Our world needs renewable energy to both meet increasing energy demands and reduce the CO2 footprint. Supporting this requirement is one of our key focuses.

With Enico, we have established a technology collaboration to build the most modern and effective Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), which will enable the replacement of conventional power with renewable energy. This is beneficial for our environment and will simultaneously improve Europe’s energy infrastructure,” says Lars Platzhoff, EVP Business Unit Cooling at Rittal.

Energy storage systems are essential for the success of the energy transition, enabling the utilization of potential overcapacity from wind and solar power and maintaining grid stability. The International Energy Agency (IEA) predicts that investments in storage technologies will grow exponentially. Finland could significantly enhance Europe’s renewable energy production. This would be important not only for Finland’s competitiveness and emission targets but also from the perspective of national security.
