Customer stories: Recharge
In autumn 2024 Enico delivered its first-generation CompactESS 600 energy storage system to support one of Recharge’s high-power charging sites in Västerås (IKEA), Sweden. The system participates in the reserve market and helps reduce peak loads. Another system, the CompactESS 300, will be delivered in autumn 2025.
The agreement supports Enico’s strategy to grow in the Nordics as the most reliable and high-quality supplier of C&I-class energy storage systems.

Energy Storage System to Support EV Charging Infrastructure
Recharge faced a common challenge in the fast-evolving EV charging landscape: local grid constraints that limited capacity at a key charging location. To ensure seamless operation and future scalability, Recharge selected Enico to deliver a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) tailored to the site’s specific needs.
This project marks the first completed case between Enico and Recharge, laying the foundation for broader collaboration. A framework agreement has since been signed, securing continuity for future energy storage deployments across the Nordics.
Enico’s system provides multiple benefits in one solution:
- It supports the local grid by supplying power when demand exceeds the available capacity.
- It reduces the site’s electricity costs by optimizing consumption and minimizing grid tariff peaks.
- It enables Recharge to participate in the national ancillary services market through grid balancing.
Why Enico?
Recharge selected Enico following a competitive tendering process. In addition to offering a competitive price and meeting all technical criteria, Enico stood out by delivering:

A strong response to demanding documentation requirements.

A clear focus on safety, sustainability, and certified quality systems.

Compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Flexibility and scalability were also key factors. Recharge, as a charge point operator (CPO), needed a solution that could be adapted and controlled to match different site-specific needs. Enico’s modular system and proven track record aligned well with this vision.
